HITT vs. LISS Cardio // Which Is Better? // Sunday Series Ep. 2

In today’s video, I talk about HITT and LISS cardio, breaking each down and covering the pros and cons of both and talking about which one is ultimately the best for weight loss! Hope you guys enjoy Sunday Series Episode 2!

HIIT stands for “High Intensity Interval Training”, which ultimately is short bursts of intense biking, sprinting, swimming, etc. & usually lasts between 10-60 second per set.

LISS stands for “Low Intensity Steady State cardio, which means leisurely walking, biking, elliptical, stair master, etc, and this can be done for long periods of time.

Since the common argument is always “oh HIIT is better” and vice versa, I just wanted to state the truth and say they both work very well and tend to be better in conjunction with each other then either alone!

HIIT cardio is great because it is ‘very’ quick and super efficient. It doesn’t take long to burn a lot of calories and many people say it blunts their appetite (and I can second this) which is definitely helpful when it comes to weight loss and leaning out! That said, a lot of people severely overdo it as there is no reason to do it more then 2x a week as it can impair recovery and subsequent performance.

LISS cardio is great because it is very low intensity so you can honestly do it anywhere and anytime. Whether you just simply walk for 5 minutes or for an hour, anything is better than nothing! The overall health benefits of LISS are incredible, plus even though it takes longer than HITT, you can burn an equal amount of calories WITHOUT putting a ton of unnecessary stress on your body!

TRUTH: Hit 1-2 HITT cardio sessions per week in addition to hitting 3-5 LISS cardio sessions per week as this combination will yield the best results!
