Ideal Rest Between Sets? What Scientific Research Shows

What’s the ideal rest between sets? How long should you rest for?

It’s widely believed that longer rest intervals are better suited for Strength lifts and goals, but not for muscle growth, where you would hypothetically need shorter rest intervals to gain mass.

When we look at the current scientific research we can see that this is bro science and that in fact longer rest intervals favor better recovery, thus more volume and intensity can be handled which is more important for muscle strength and hypertrophy than resting for a short amount of time.

In this video I also explain the real reason why we benefit for longer rest intervals to improve strength, muscle mass and athletic performance.
